I agree that no one knows beforehand whether they will be saved. If that was your point, perhaps you should've put it in a more straightforward terms so even people like me would get what you mean from the get go. Why use the ambiguous language you resorted to?

In any case, I agree that people have to be told that they "have a shot" at eternal life and Heaven. However, I must also add that the message Jesus proclaimed is not exclusive to him. You will find the same message in Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, and naturally Judaism and Islam. I, for one, didn't follow any of those paths, and what Jesus said became clear to me only after I was "saved" and entered the "kingdom of God" -- by dumb luck, I must add.

I'm also familiar with the general thrust of Christian theology, but, to put it in no uncertain terms, I must stress that it's misleading at best and plainly wrong at worst. Yes, kingdom of God is at hand, it's enough to realize that "I" and "the Father" are one. It's enough to see that we never left Eden in the first place and that everything is perfect and we already are immortal for all eternity. That's the only salvation, because Heaven (as well as Hell) is always in the infinite here and now.
