You're welcome. As for where I've got the idea -- from experience. And even if you don't believe me, the book you go by (I assume), has Ten Words in it that speak about having no idols as well as a passage of Jesus saying that that Law will be valid while this universe lasts. (Both true statements btw.)

So, if you don't see Jesus as your equal you either exalt yourself above him and thus cannot love him, or you exalt Jesus above yourself and put him on a pedestal, essentially idolizing him (and thus cling to him for not exactly pure reasons). Your book clearly states that you should do neither.

I don't think you do the former, but I'm pretty certain you do the latter. But while you do either you simply cannot know God. There’s nothing mysterious about it, that's pure causality, which, btw., you are commanded to accept as well. You know -- honor your father and your mother.
