You Are a Ghost
Anything you can observe is not who you are. Unless you see that, you are a ghost. And ghosts don’t have much choice — they are driven. By compulsive memories, thoughts or feelings, inexplicable urges. Perhaps by other ghosts playing on their sensitive strings, which, however, amounts to the same.
Seeing your individuality for the ghost it is, then, while it changes neither its ephemeral nature nor its ghost-like attributes, is the first step in what makes that whole world of difference. All across the spectrum, from mind, through emotions, all the way to the body.
It’s how it works, and it does not matter that the observed is merely a dream without substance.
What matters is the will with which you shape the dream — everything from ideas to acts. Is it driven like the one of a ghost? Is it clouded by sudden strikes out of the left field of unconscious? Is it hijacked by calming habits, rituals that distract, obsessions, ambitions, goals, or what have you? Or is it free as you can stop the world for a moment and get that additional split of a second when it is possible to grasp the chance?
But of course, and to be on point, there is still one crucial point which one has to always keep in mind: who is that you who sees that you are a non-existent ghost?
Recognizing that, the game really starts.
If you agreed with the above, you clearly agree with basically all working esoteric teachings known to man. Maybe ironically, you also agree with all demonstrable parts of materialism and physicalism as the above was just this article rephrased in idealism. Well, talk about obstinacy and one truth only :D
If you disagreed with the above, or agreed but cannot fathom how you, even implicitly, could agree with materialism and its friends, you are in for a lot of surprises ;) You won’t like some, but rest assured — the net result is paradoxically positive; well, it’s definitely not negative :D
