Yes. The experiencer entirely reconstructs the person in question and then interacts with them. See my encounter with deceased Castaneda, but it's also all those shamans who regularly "travel" to visit their ancestors in "the land of dead," etc. Even ingested chemicals (read plants ;P) and other raw natural forces can be anthropomorphized and interacted with in this way.
