Yes. Consciousness, i.e. our first person perspective or that from which we derive our sense of I-ness, is our identity (awareness then being the perceptual filter -- note that some people use these terms exactly in reverse). The catch is that it cannot be directly observed (for obvious reasons -- eye cannot see itself directly either).
