Why We Obsess About Sex
From the human animal perspective, sex is like magic that repels death. Even from an objective viewpoint, sex and death are counterbalanced, pitted against each other in life of what Erwin Schrödinger would perhaps call every animate area where biological processes locally decrease entropy for the time being.
Furthermore, orgasm is a genuine altered state of awareness. And pretty potent at that. Many minds were blown.
Hence, sex is sacred. Hence, sex is taboo. Hence, sex is commodified and fiercely guarded with jealousy. In any case, very few are completely unimpressed. That’s also why, when it comes to the absolute bottom, human can be swayed to end up as a whore of various social positions and levels. Or a mercenary, but I guess that that’s just another kind of whoring.
And all of that just to scare the death away. Which is understandable, but hardly an excuse. Merely a rationalization.
The goal of enlightenment is not to kill or paralyze the human animal. The aim is to convince it to don’t give (of) itself for reward and don’t wage wars to protect that profit margin because all such deeds spoil the taste of even the finest. To let your animal taste the honey, then, allow it to be innocent.
After all, you are your closest pet.
