What you describe is merely a facelift of one of the walls. Monetary systems (and meritocracy in general) go all the way back to Sumer. The system, sans technological improvements, didn't change one bit for the last (roughly) six millennia. The reason that this is the case is that it is based on a transactional mindset, i.e. greed. Furthermore, all transactional systems are corruptible and history proved that, no matter the facelifts, such system will inevitably get corrupted. The problem is valuation as such. In other words, trying to assign arbitrary values on various facets of Universe which are inherently invaluable is the foundation of all existing walls (and all existing major social ills that plague us ever since Sumer).
