Well, when you take any nihilism to its logical conclusion, it renders itself meaningless and moot. It does not matter that nothing matters. It's a personal belief by the very definition. Even when it dissolves, reality still remains exactly as it was. I don't think that it's a problem of emotional consolation, that's just an eventual byproduct. I would say that the main point is truth and knowledge of it.
