Well, that might be the case, even though sans his on-the-road vision there is literally nothing about his mystical experiences AFAIK (also, I’m not a fan of sharing mystical experiences as people are inclined to emulate them instead of following their own version of the path). The major flaw in Paul, however, is that, following him, it's highly unlikely to arrive at self-realization and actually know God, which is the whole point (Paul was clearly still “unenlightened” when he wrote to Philippians). And at that point one is better off with Thomas or "red letters" in canonical Gospels.
