Well, in the context of the movie it looked more like transhumanism. Thanks, but count me out :D In the context of your analogy —see below.

I don’t think so. It’s just that many of the explanations they provide are not palatable for certain demographic that seems to hit a wall when presented with reasonable facts. Remember — heliocentrism used to be a heresy punishable by death, especially when also combined with mysticism.

Religion and Science are both basically off the rails in our time.

It’s the problem of priests — religious and academic, i.e. “priests of science” (there are also those who fall somewhere in between but still are intent on manipulating people for one reason or another, hence technically pass for priests). Real scientists and mystics are fine and dandy. Most probably because both groups were never really two separate groups to begin with.

But most importantly, as I said earlier — one has to know what God actually is before trying to understand it. Quite a paradox, but that’s how it is.
