Well, if it was at least a sex between minds. What vast majority of people considers to be sex is merely a group masturbation to fulfill one's particular fantasy. People are basically pursuing self-gratification in company of others, but alone -- minds seldom "touch" and forget the "unity of beings". And yet, a raw quickie with someone you know for years or even decades, with partners fully present and open to each other, is indistinguishable from the highest forms of "spiritual" ecstasy. But I agree, absence of sex is better than an empty one.
