True -- after all everything is but change from one form to another. But none of those forms satisfies the condition of "unchanging and immortal". When it comes to soul -- when you pour water into two different cups it's still H2O in both of them. And the air that surrounds those cups contains the same water, thus the water in cups is only seemingly separated from all the water that exists on Earth.
