"To that point, and your second point, the reference to "world" in John 14:15-17 is the lost world not the entire world."

Yes, the "world" there means all those ignorant people, blinded by knowledge of good and evil, and hence fully invested in "worldly" matters of greed and hatred, i.e. desires and dislikes. My point was that knowledge of Holy Spirit equates to entering Kingdom of God (aka Heaven), which is equivalent to knowing God, that is salvation, and that that's why Holy Spirit is talked about in terms of knowledge.

"If you continue down past 17 it is clear that Jesus is referring to the. Holy Spirit coming to the disciples while they are still alive."

Yes, no doubt. Knowledge of God and entering his kingdom does not contradict being alive. Quite to the contrary, and you will find it in Bible, too: "‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” (Matt. 22:32)

"The apostles were imperfect, just as we are today. However, in my theology, the Bible was not written by them but penned by them and written by God."

I know, and that's the actual problem. I have found out that, indeed, when you love God above everything else and follow his commands, you will know Him even while alive. But it does not work the way the apostles say it does; it is also nothing like they say it is.

On the other hand, it is exactly as Jesus is recorded saying, provided you don't filter it through the apostles. So, that's that. Heck, those guys got one job -- to spread Jesus' gospel. And yet, New Testament contains several times more of their (often times blatantly wrong) writings than actual words of Jesus and his message. And you can verify it for yourself -- follow Jesus' commands without consulting apostles first and you will know God very quickly, thus, also see where apostles got it wrong.
