This is exactly the point -- in a world without meaning, without intrinsic values or hope, it's not life that is perverse but our ignorant ways how we go about it while abusing our free will. It's really scary to admit that we as species have royally fucked up some things and simply cannot go back and undo them. We can change course, however, and let this knowledge be a stark warning for the future to mitigate the fallout and don't repeat the same mistakes all over again.
