The first thing that occurred to me was that I once saw a video about the gorilla Koko. You know the one who communicated with people in sign language. IIRC (and it's a big if :D), when they showed her videos with potential partners, she expressed that one particular male made her heart race. Literally. I seriously doubt that at any time she saw her then future partner as more than the guy who makes her heart race. (I faintly remember that she also expressed some pretty abstract terms, like emotions and such, but I cannot recall whether it was in this particular context, plus, I can't speak sign language on bit, so there's that.)

Also, as I see it, humans already are different. While we are animals through and through, it's precisely these "memeplexes" that make us unique. I know of no other animal with such ability.

I would also say that when you are "husbanding," no matter how consciously you approach it, you nail the pin deeper, reinforcing it. And I won't go into some dubious archetypes where that's pretty obvious. Take a thief for an example, "Oh, don't mind me, I'm just consciously taking your stuff against your will here." Lol. And again, I have my doubts that raccoon thinks in such terms. But sure, one can also fully live on the "raccoon plane."

Perhaps it's just semantic gymnastics on my part, but I see substantial difference between "husbanding" and living with a woman with whom I have legal contract about a specific socio-economic partnership, and who gave birth to other people who now live with us after I had sex with her because she makes my heart race. The moment I use terms like "husbanding" or similar, something is lost. And a lot of useless baggage added. But as I said, it may be just me.

As for your last sentence, I seriously don't know. But I have a suspicion that it may depend a lot on which particular echo chamber(s) we are talking about. I mean, folks in general don't care directly, but, in the face of recent events, more and more people feel their mortality with higher urgency, and they ask, "Why?" Like, it's the concern nowadays. But yeah, drink the water must everyone on their own.
