That's why I also said that position of atheist is frustrating. Atheists have all the data, but (if I had to guess) they do not make the final step of applying the scrutiny (or scientific method if you will) toward themselves. So, they conclude that e.g. consciousness is illusion, nature is hostile, solipsistic teleology (i.e. that e.g. the meaning of life is life) has no practical value, consumerism is just a matter of keeping it in check, capitalism, social democracy or even meritocracy are viable forms of social modes, or even that it would be funny to turn ourselves into cyborgs. I guess, you get the gist of it. Hence my perception is indeed that of an atheist (maybe naturalist would be more fitting) when it comes to science in its entirety, not ontology however. The difference is rather small but substantial.
