That would be true, if you assigned inherent meaning to meaninglessness. And that would be a fallacy, so nihilism is self-refuting. Hence, being "moral paragons, full of compassion, selflessness, joy, etc." or "noble sufferers" is purely an individual choice. And since enlightenment is the pinnacle of selfishness -- you are all what is -- choosing the former is a natural rational choice. Unless you are a masochist, that is :D
