Thanks for your response. You pretty much summed up all of my current “technical” understanding of the issues of perception and consciousness and then some. Especially that paper on claustrum, consciousness, and time perception is really something. I was not aware of that work, but it nicely fits into what can be observed. Due to lack of substantial scientific research in this area, I tend to use ancient “spiritual” sources as a “guideline”, thus my approach to the whole affair is more in the vein of “mystical psychonautic adventures” filtered through the latest scientific discoveries. It’s really funny how one can tackle ancient topics like karma or reincarnation in this way and come to pretty straightforward explanations, ones that make this universe surprisingly even more fascinating and mind-boggling than the traditional dogmatic “explanations” do.
