Nope. It's actually pretty simple. Lack of self-knowledge leads to alienation, which leads to fear that Universe is out to get you, which results in greed (or an obsessive need to create a buffer of resources to shield you from death). And voila, you have conflict, hatred, envy, reckless arrogance, beliefs in BS, and so on and so forth (i.e. all those layers upon layers of problems you deem impenetrably complex).
