No one can "surf their learned beliefs about the universe." Believing that is Sisyphean futility because beliefs always impose tracks on one's freedom of movement. Also, I'm talking about "real walls" -- literal, brick and mortar or concrete ones, as well as metaphorical, of which causality and thus also e.g. death (i.e. decomposing of body and mind), but also the literal walls, are prime examples. Well, hope is perhaps even more poisonous than despair. It certainly is more insidious.
