What took weeks and months eighty years ago now transpires in hours and days. When I was a child, the two most scary characters I knew were Old Grumbler and Yasser Arafat. The former was always lying in wait somewhere inside service shaft and the latter regularly but randomly appeared speaking on TV screen accompanied by gruesome images. In Ukraine, right now, there are people with exactly the same notion of “I” as you and I have.
So this is that war.
