Marvel, DC, manga, Bible, Pali canon, etc. -- it makes no difference if the assumption is that enlightenment equals empowerment and superpowers. That's just wishful thinking. Our day to day reality is a clear proof. Humanity didn't become enlightened in proportion to evolving technology. And it's not because a large portion of population is still clinging to old myths. The new myths are equally off.

There are three stages in human development -- average man, super man, and knowing man. One can (almost) completely skip the "superman" phase.
