Jesus Fucking Christ and Nonsense

For a long time, I considered the famous argument of ridiculousness in favor of Christianity as plausible. You know, the one that goes along the line of thought that the accounts of Jesus must be true, because early Christians would certainly not make idiots and martyrs of themselves by spouting total nonsense.

Today, however, I’m not so sure. To be honest, I’m certain that such logic holds no water.

Cases in point are many. In fact, too many for my liking. Take for example Russian propaganda and the regular drivel of Agent Orange, his acolytes, admirers, and imitators. Or look at the excretes of all those “alternative” scribblers from media zones of various shades of gray and wiki incontinences.

Of course, those examples are hardly exhaustive. After all, there is still that fat angry scammer always at war with information, or that average Joe who would gladly sell his mother, if the price was right, truth be damned. And I could go on.

When I look at all those people today, they’ve entered a state when they became so entangled in their lies and deceptions that, in order to uphold their act, their proclamations reached a level way beyond ridiculous. Not that it was fundamentally any different in the past, but in present day, their phantasmagorias are simply so absurd that I cannot even find a fitting word that would express the sheer scope of their bizarreness.

All their phrases sound to me like that famous aphorism: Here, this glass piece of metal made from plastic lying on the table is levitating above your head over there.

Sure, you may argue that Christians didn’t just spout nonsense, and they had a rather bitter history here and there. But look at all those examples I mentioned above and see how each and every one of those people will rather face rightful consequences than correct their course. And they, too, consider themselves martyrs because of that.

Therefore, I came to a firm conclusion that if those folks in this day and age can spout blatant nonsense like that with a straight face and double down when pushed into the corner, I don’t see why early Christians would not be able to do exactly the same.

Still, despite everything, I’m quite astonished how can someone willingly make an utter joke of themselves and is ready to die on that hill. (Even though the latter is somewhat debatable and depends on a particular case IMO.)

Well, I guess, to each their own.
