It's worth to mention that this is in all probability yet another myth. As it seems, the people who were displaced were Jewish elites, the cream of the crop -- kings, dukes, priests, scribes, the best artisans, etc. The average plebs was most probably left in the territory and I highly doubt that those few 10s of 1000s of displaced Jews were totality of Jewish population. Even Jews who are today in physical exile are merely descendants of Jewish elites. Case in point -- according to Nebel et al., a substantial portion of Palestinian Muslim Arabs (82%) and Jews (70%) had inherited their Y chromosomes from the same paternal ancestors, who lived in the region within the last few thousand years. Makes one wonder, who is fighting each other in the Israel today. Well, that's the bitter irony of situation when cultural indoctrination and actual genetics tell two different stories.
