In very simple terms, wu wei can be associated with a backyard game of football (or soccer, if you are from US) where the outcome does not matter and the participants immerse themselves in the play simply for fun. It can also be any act of creation where one does not strive for a particular end goal, but simply enjoys the process of creation as such. And so on and so forth. Taken to its logical conclusion, it's any act observed with impartial detachment. The actual experience then can be as you describe it, but I would say that that experience is also pretty individual.
