I would personally use a different approach than relying on Radin et al. (or anyone’s anecdotes for that matter). First, when it comes to “whims of unseen non-material influences”, I have just one word — thoughts. Sure, one can observe various physical phenomena associated with them, but no one perceives electricity, not even qualia (whatever that is, if it is) directly — actual cognized perceptions (of thoughts) are immaterial and whimsical as it gets. Second, I would like “Dennettians” to explain how can billions of brains that are all different from each other and “house” billions of unique personalities, produce consciousness that is identical to a T all across the board (which is experientially observable fact).
