I wonder what is so unusual when a materialist states that "matter, as we perceive it, is an illusion", that "the universe appears like 'a great thought'", or that "the apparently material universe emerges from other levels of reality". It's obvious that we perceive neither quantum particles nor electric signals generated by our brains. No matter what's the true nature of matter, what we are actually aware of are at all times merely constructs of our minds. Thus, none of the above statements undermine the "materialistic" foundation of universe. I'll turn the question around--what's, according to you, spiritual?
