I think that social hierarchies are like those local temporary decreases of entropy we've discussed. They do exist, but.

Take for example a pack of gorillas -- there is what you can call a social structure among them (or hierarchy, if you will), but they need a (subjective feeling of) security of a large enough group in order to procreate. Take that support system away and not even the alpha pair will have offspring.

I would say that the kind of hierarchies JP advocates for, while possible, are actually what contributes to dissolution of social bonds, subsequent uncertainty and conflict, and ensuing socioeconomic instability. Thus, quite ironically, they lead to human beings at large (as species) less fit for survival (e.g. every time when "hierarchism" got the absolute upper hand, populations were decimated, primarily, by wars but you can also add all the various violent revolutions). He, like all of his conservative / fascist fellows, is basically sawing off the branch he's sitting on. Shortsighted, to put it mildly.

In other words, while it's foolish to think that all people can swim like Phelps (as "woke" neoliberals would like to have it), it's equally foolish to think that Phelps would achieve what he did by bossing around his trainer and the rest of his realization team in some overreaching manner (the wet dream of JP and the rest). Likewise, it's absurd to even imagine that Armstrong or Aldrin would insist on some arcane specifics of Saturn V, as well as claiming that anyone would be able to replace them and travel to Moon. You get the point, I think.
