As I said in my response to you previous article, "the fall" can be traced in human history as a specific event: evolution of symbolic thinking (ST), most probably (at least partially) facilitated by deliberate choice of using psychotropic plants. I only wonder around what plants, which the women were collecting 100K ago, all those snakes were crawling.

Now, ST is the "source" of ego (that is to say, it's the mechanism that "builds" it) and that ego-construct is the very reason why humans are initially separated from direct experience of their "divinity" as well as the vehicle that eventually enables humans to become aware of it (e.g. animals without ST may, and, indeed, do appear to, live in "unity with absolute" although they are not aware of the fact).

In such light, the meaning of the word "religion" rendered as "return" may make perfect sense, even though the actual reality on the ground, i.e. perversion of all religions exactly to trap a person and solidify one's ego in order to control them, is a different matter.

And just as a side note, as someone already mentioned in responses to your previous pieces, snake is also the symbol of "Kundalini energy," which is synonymous with "spiritual" path, as is the exact case also with e.g. Caduceus (staff of Hermes).
