I guess what makes you feel puzzled is that you conflate cults with the misrepresented spiritual teachings they are built upon. You also somehow missed the sad reality that for the last six millennia all "civilized" societies (without fail) are essentially ruled by priests who bestow their blessings on rulers in exchange for protection (sometimes they are the same person). Maybe that's the reason why you mention Osho, Rinpoche, Crowley, and other scum in the same breath with luminaries such as Buddha, Maslow, Jung, or Huxley.
