I get where you are coming from, but there's no good and evil. Only limited options, free choices and deterministic consequences with literally the same identical "I" (i.e. consciousness) at the receiving end.

Neither of those men you mention were born a monster. They end up that way due to the above mentioned dynamics, which, naturally, also includes their unwillingness to make choices that would break their subconscious needs to unleash their unprocessed traumas on millions of other people.
