Exactly -- atonement theology hinges on (weekly) human sacrifice (and in some denominations even ritual cannibalism). Even Bible is pretty clear on that topic.

But I would take those resurrection stories you mention with a huge grain of salt. I mean, and even setting aside Jesus' case, making the already decomposing Lazarus die several times is pretty cruel. And what's most important, who you really are is already immortal. "I" was never born and cannot die ;)
