Exactly as you say. As for self-importance, just to clarify: I don't mean refusing to be treated like shit -- that's precisely rejection of self-importance and insisting on partnership of equals, i.e. rejecting someone's attempts to indulge their self-importance and make themselves more important. (However, and just to put it into perspective, when e.g. a guy comes to repair some appliance in my house and I assist him, I'll do exactly as he says. But that does not make him more important or me less important -- we both just know and respect our places in the given scenario.)
Perhaps the best depiction of what I mean by self-importance can be found in The Matrix in the famous steakhouse scene (as contrasted with Cypher's final monologue and his overall attitude).
