Evolution favors the most fit. That is, those who can adapt to the environment the best. One may argue that it is precisely the most capable predator, but even viruses become less deadly when they become endemic. Exactly in order to maintain a certain homeostasis that would allow them to survive (by not killing off their hosts completely).
Although I would say that there is no other form of capitalism than the predatory one, the above paragraph would imply that the ideas leading to capitalism will stay here. So, as our beloved Castaneda said, one can only deter the "parasite" by not succumbing to its lures.
Sure, large portions of the human population seem to be completely lost -- either too involved in the system to be even willing to get out, or too lazy to do anything about it even if they are at the bottom of the pecking order (or a combination of both in various proportions). But one thing seems pretty clear to everyone -- and as you say -- "Waiter, please bring the check..." Or in other words, Babylon is crumbling. Despite everything that goes on, it's an exciting time to be alive (and no, I don't expect flying people as you may already know).
As for planet's ecosystem -- during lockdown last year, I observed something interesting. In ca. one month I could see a sky without smog for the first time in many years. When dinosaurs went in their way, reptiles didn't perish. Those environmentally taxing, however, ended in our cars and plastic bags. Quite the irony.
I'm really interested to see how this all plays out.
