Even if you gag while contemplating the universe and its meaninglessness, it's an acquired conditioning. The same is true for many sexual preferences (see fetishes). That they utilize biological processes is inconsequential.
Yes, my quibble about "accidentality" is a linguistic one. Advent of life does not satisfy all meanings of "accident". So, using "accident" as a generalization to describe life is incorrect. Was life unintended? Definitely! That is, there was no active agent intending it. Was chance involved? Partially. Was it unforeseen or unexpected? No.
It has nothing to do with determinism or necessity. When you roll 3d6 long enough, you will eventually roll 3 and 18. That's not an accident and it's hardly unforeseen. Given the extent of universe (size and its age) life was bound to happen. It happened, after all. Obviously.
"Accident" also has the connotation of mistake with unfortunate results (which, I suspect, you are after when you use the word perhaps to ruffle some feathers, but such connotation is moot when there is no intent).
All in all, I don't try to take away your disgust. But don't expect me to agree that value judgments are objective truths. Your disgust is merely your choice of interpretation.
