Definitely, but if you are in a position of such kind of authority as his parents, either don't comment publicly at all, or when you do and say A (which I have no problem with -- the young fellow is talented, he worked hard and it shows, so parents can be proud) say also the B. Provided there actually is a B where you disagree with your child. And to voice that disagreement, no condemnation is necessary. Simply treat the kid as your equal.
