Dear Dr. Dohan,
I will take the liberty to point out some verifiable facts:
1) there are altered states of awareness or perception, both of which are functions of mind;
2) mind, as a whole, is cognized by what we denote as consciousness (not to be confused with awareness);
3) not a single intellectually honest neuroscientist will claim today that they know what is consciousness, how it arises from the brain, or how it operates;
4) the problem of consciousness is hard, because it resembles a problem of an eye attempting to look directly at itself.
