Liberal Romans and orthodox Pharisees supported by other conservative zealots still duke it out. Hellenized priests and elites at all levels of the hierarchy opportunistically plot for power as usual. Silent, complacent majority tries hard not to notice, invents excuses, or takes sides, while the few honest followers of Torah, as well as a rare knower of Christ — or rather, God — here and there, just watch in horror and disbelief what goes on right before their very eyes.

The daily reality for two millennia — SNAFU.

But I’m sure a similar report can be rephrased for any culture and society.
