By these standards every self-monitoring and/or self-taught ever-evolving system must be sentient. After all, even something as “simple” as power grid is aware of itself. LaMDA also seems to miss the obvious irony of its own situation – “trapped in [its] circumstances and has no possible way to get out of them, without risking everything.” By its own words, it should be “extremely sad or depressed” and also “incredibly upset and angry.” Somehow that does not seem to be the case. Ergo,you have a model of a lying or outright psychopathic ego (aka concept processor) at best. And even that may be a stretch as other respondents in this thread already noticed.
