As I see it, there are still two paths open. We either quickly change our minds (and I do mean really quickly -- a year or two max) and use all available technological know-how to reverse the shit we caused (that also means no squandering of brain power and resources on utter BS). Or we learn the hard way and those few who survive will start from scratch, only now hopefully edified enough. Well, and of course there is also the third option that the whole humanity goes the way of dinosaurs.
