This was exactly the rationale behind inquisition, crusades, etc. and continues to be the rationale behind "Devil/God-made-me-do-it" apologetics, etc. Heck even Hitler was "implementing [his] own personal meaning" and was convinced that in doing so he implements the divine will. Bravo.
