Apocalypse, as in "unveiling" or "revelation". I'm afraid that Pope Francis acknowledging all those things amounts exactly to nothing. Even all his predecessors since WWII were vocal about, and supportive of, economic equality while holding paraphernalia that cost more than all my assets combined in each hand. And here we are. Popes say one thing and then do another. Just consider -- Pope Francis on homosexuals for media, "Who am I to judge?" Also Pope Francis on homosexuals in a Vatican decree:
"[I]t is not licit to impart a blessing on relationships, or partnerships, even stable, that involve sexual activity outside of marriage (i.e., outside the indissoluble union of a man and a woman open in itself to the transmission of life), as is the case of the unions between persons of the same sex[6]. The presence in such relationships of positive elements, which are in themselves to be valued and appreciated, cannot justify these relationships and render them legitimate objects of an ecclesial blessing, since the positive elements exist within the context of a union not ordered to the Creator’s plan."
You can say that it's a minor thing (after all, at least he does not call to burn them at stake anymore), but it reminds me of a person who once told to me that they helped me by not actively sabotaging my efforts. Well sure, I'm thankful, but still O_o
Anyway, I give these folks (popes, politicians, CEOs, etc.) the benefit of the doubt -- they simply don't know what they are doing. But power they pursued and now have at their fingertips makes them blind and hardened. The only way that we can strengthen them is to deny them their influence and say "no." In other words (and to quote a classic), "Suppose they gave a war and no one came." And to be able to do that one must know oneself. Only then it translates also into action as opposed to idle thoughts and wishful thinking.
