Ah, and another thing occurred to me -- considering that only priests had access to the Holy Place and only high priest could enter the Holy of Holies, all what tearing of parochet accomplished was removing the inequalities among priests. That indeed happened. All rabbis, Christian priests, and imams (even though a social hierarchy still exists in all of those cases) had ever since equal access to esoteric knowledge of their respective tradition (Christianity and Islam didn't exist and were build like that, destruction of 2nd temple and diaspora then facilitated this process in Judaism).

So, there's still the "veil of physical" which separates the courtyard from the sanctuary. One may argue that esoteric knowledge is nowadays freely available, but the only official ways are either yeshiva (which AFAIK ends with rabbinical ordination) in case of Judaism, or some form of priest seminary in case of Christian church. I have no clue how this works among Muslims.

Well, I would say it's high time to tear down that veil as well. Otherwise the world will be hardly filled with knowledge of the glory of God.
